I just want you to be aware that your child has brought home some books and their school iPads today. There is no reason for the books and electronic to come out of the backpack. I will be doing this every Friday as a precautionary measure. Due to the virus numbers increasing in our state everyday, Sister Susan wants all students to have the necessary learning tools in case we are told to go remote. Our plan is to always have the students present in school but, if the Governor states that our area needs to learn remotely, we want to be prepared. Having the students continue to learning is the upmost important factor including students’ and teachers’ safety If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Again, the students will be bringing some books and school IPad home every Friday as a precaution.

Any quizzes or tests I give will be sent home and does not need to be signed and returned. The reason is so that there are less people handling the assessments. Parents must check Powerschool for their child's grades. I sent home the access information parents need to view your child's grades.
Mon: Gym
Tue: Music
Wed: Art
Thu: Art
Fri: Gym
Students will focus on improving their math and reading skills using the IReady program twice a week. The lessons are geared to help the students strengthen the areas they are weak in.
Rosetta Stone is three times a week.
The students will be studying the language of Spanish this year and will continue with this language throughout Middle School.
REMOTE LEARNERS:
All assignments will be posted on google classroom for the remote learners.
The directions to join a google classroom are at the bottom of this page. Please remember to join for your special classes like art, music and gym.

An open line of communication between the teacher and parent/guardian is extremely important and welcomed. The best way for communication is to view your child's homework folder (which the school will provide to all students) and their homework book every night. Please feel free to email me (NCongro5569@sscmweb.org) or write a note (please place in your child's homework folder) and I will contact you within 24 hours.
Morning prayers and the pledge will begin at 8:20 and all students need to be unpacked and ready to go over homework by this time. Please make sure your child arrives on time- no later than 8:15. Also, please provide a dismissal note if your child's regular dismissal routine will change for a particular day. No parent/guardian can enter the building during school hours without calling the Main Office first. If you are going to pick up your child for any reason during school hours, the child cannot come back to school that day. Walkers are dismissed on the Half Hollow Road side of the school building. Everyone must go right into their vehicle- no congregating.
Snack is needed every day and cannot be shared. There will be no Hot Lunch until further notice. All students must bring their lunch in and it also cannot be shared. The 5th grade will eat first in the classroom and then will have recess outside if weather permits. No glass bottled drinks are allowed in the classroom. There are NO food allergies in this class.
*If your child is absent, please send in a note. If I do not receive a note, the absent will be marked illegal. Also, if your child is a walker for a particular day, a note is needed. This helps so there is no confusion at dismissal time.
Study Guides are given for all tests one week in advance of the test. All study guides will given out. Reviews bees are given the day before a test. This review will help the students see what information they are not strong in and focus their final night of studying on.
Birthday celebrations are alittle different for safety reasons this year. A student can celebrate their special day with their class mates by bringing in a prepackaged treat and small water bottles or Capri Sun pouches. Please inform me a day or two in advance so I can schedule the celebration into the day's routine. A detailed note listing treat ideas was sent home. Parents CANNOT drop off any birthday items to the main office. The student must bring the items into school in the am.
