First graders at Saints Cyril and Methodius School in Deer Park have
been busy bees these last few weeks getting ready for spring. Students
honed their reading skills enjoying a number of books about the spring.
They learned all about winter coming to an end, talked about animals
that hibernate and discussed what they do when they come out of their
winter shelter. One of their favorite stories was about birds flying
back from the south once the spring hits.
artistry, they created spring flowers, took to the computers to research
birds and put together excellent bird’s nest projects. They had a fun
time celebrating National Pig Day by decorating their own pig cupcakes
(Yum!) On Dr. Seuss’ birthday, they read stories and made great Cat in
the Hat projects. And in anticipation of St. Patrick’s Day, the
students did “marble painting” on special Shamrock projects.
