11/13 Assigned the Challenge from Lesson 2 of CHOSEN, p 11, due on November 20th.
Lesson 3: "What's Your Story, God" - read the opening prayer and page 16 - "A Confusing Story"
Watched the DVD for Lesson 3 - segments 1 and 2 and answered the questions.
In small groups, children discussed how Eve's story compares with Mary's story. They will share their thoughts tomorrow.

Bible activity: "A Genealogy" - searching for our spiritual roots and filling in the "family tee".

11/8 We worked on the ABC "I Am Thankful for..." poems.

11/7 Last group #4 finally did their presentation of "One Solitary Life"

11/5 CHOSEN: We finished up various parts of Lesson 2 in preparation for the BIG Review Game on Tuesday. We continued to answer the question "What makes me happy?"

11/2 Discussed our question from Wednesday: Do you know anyone who seems to be happy and what makes them that way?
CHOSEN: Read pages 8-9 where our presenter for Lesson 2 discusses where his life took different turns he least expected, but what he realized was that his faith in God was the thing that actually enabled him to find happiness.

Reviewed Lesson 2 of CHOSEN: "What makes me happy?" that we did last week. 
Small group discussion questions: What did you want to be when you were growing up and has it changed? Why do you think wealth and fame do not necessarily lead to happiness? 
The groups reported back to the full class.
We watched Segment 3 of Lesson 2: "Are we on our own?"
Small group discussion question: Do you know anyone who seems to be happy and what makes them that way?
We will discuss these thoughts on Friday. (No class tomorrow - Halloween party; no school on Thursday.)

In our books, we listed five goals for our personal lives. 
Met in small groups to share our personal goals and to answer the questions posed in the DVD, especially our question for Lesson 1, "Why am I here?"
Each group reported back to the whole class.

10/12 Computer room: We edited and printed our Cinquains (5 line poems) about St. Paul to complete our unit of study about him.

Looked at the various presenters whom we will meet on the DVD portion of the program this year.
Read the opening prayer for Lesson 1 and then did the opening activity, an ice-breaker called "Chasing Autographs."

9/21 Discussed a "connection" Donovan discovered between St. Paul and John Newman, a slave trader,  who wrote "Amazing Grace" after he had a life changing conversion much like Paul's.

They did a wonderful job.

9/19 Read the story of Paul's final journey to Rome after his arrest and followed along on the maps we colored yesterday.
"Paul the Tentmaker" - in groups of 5, we acted out the story of how Paul met two fellow Christians Aquila and his wife Priscilla.
We will present these starting tomorrow.

9/18 We continued to examine the Michelangelo painting of Paul's conversion.
Worked on the covers of our Religion folders.
Two groups constructed quizzes for the class on all we have leaned about Paul so far.

Read about Paul's journeys after his conversion and outlined them on a map.

9/14 Challenge Course - no regular class.

9/13 Children reviewed their notes about St. Paul from yesterday and then quizzed each other on the information.
Reviewed various parts of the Bible leading up to the Acts of the Apostles.
Read the story of Paul's Conversion in Acts 9:1-9, 22:6-16 and 26:12-18.
Showed a bookmark of Paul woven in Turkey and asked what Turkey has to do with his life.
Fire Drill ended the period.

9/12 Children quizzed each other using the questions they wrote for HW about the makeup of the Bible: Old and New Testaments.
We compared our maps of St. Paul's World with the actual maps from the geography textbooks.
On the maps, we marked the various cities that Paul wrote his letters to.
We read the handout on Paul's life. 

9/11 Reviewed all the parts of the Bible: Old and New Testaments, books, chapters, verses.
Old Testament books: Genesis, the prophets, Psalms, Proverbs, etc.
New Testament books: Gospels, Acts of the Apostles, letters, Revelation.
HW: Each child must make up 2 questions from this material to quiz classmates.
Discussed St. Paul, Apostle to the Gentiles. Gave out a map "Paul's World" and the children colored the water sections blue to make the information presented clearer.
