Please be advised that we have retained the services of an environmental firm to perform Lead in Water Sampling of our school building. We are happy to inform you that the potable water outlets, that are water outlets that are regularly used for drinking and cooking, currently servicing our school building meet the 15 ppb action level of lead established by the New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) in Section 67-4.2 of their emergency regulation “Lead Testing in School Drinking Water” of Title 10 of the Official Compilation of the Codes, Rules and Regulations of the State of New York.
Only one of the high priority water outlets sampled revealed a concentration of lead above the NYS DOH action level. This outlet has been removed from service and will remain out of service until remedial actions are performed and retesting reveals a concentration of lead below the NYS DOH action level.
The remaining medium-priority water outlets (ex. bathroom and classroom sinks) and low-priority water outlets (ex. utility sinks and hose attachments) within the school building shall be placarded; these are the water outlets that were not sampled and not used for drinking or cooking. These outlets should be used only for handwashing, cleaning or instruction. This signage includes a pictograph that has been proven to effectively communicate this message with smaller children.
A copy of the sampling report is available for your review at the school building. After all remedial activities and retesting have been performed a final copy of all laboratory reports will also be made available.
If you have any questions please feel free to call.
